Legal Requirements For MarriageSt. Maarten requires you to be present 2 days before the wedding whereas St. Martin requires you to be present one month before the ceremony. Due to the time constraints of St. Martin all the information we have acquired is for a wedding in St. Marteen. Registration at the Office of Civil Registry needs to take place 10 days before the marriage. This can be done by faxing their office. All documents should be originals or certified originals. As an alternative to doing it yourself wedding coordinators and many resorts offer special wedding packages which include handling all the legal details. Residency Required:Must spend one month in St. Martin before wedding or you can spend just 2 days in St. Maarten which is on the other side of the island.
